In a service alert on its website the RMV announced the following:
The RMV regrets to announce the theft of certain records on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 outside the Lawrence branch. These records included registration transactions, duplicate titles, crash reports, citation payments, rebate requests and municipal parking and excise releases conducted at the Wilmington RMV on Friday, March 30th and Monday, April 2nd. The RMV will be contacting directly customers whose information may have been compromised by this incident. Personal customer information is contained in the types of paperwork stolen. The paperwork does NOT include the social security numbers of Massachusetts residents. Concerned customers may contact the RMV at 617-351-4500 or at firstname.lastname@example.org. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Agents who may have clients that use this RMV branch might want to have them check in with the Registry to see if their personal information was stolen.
