New company plans to open its first Boston office
Atlanta-based Digital Insurance continues to expand its presence in Massachusetts with the announcement of its acquisition of Strategic Employee Benefits Services (SEBS) based in Wellesley, Providence and Springfield. This is the second agency acquisition for the benefits-only company in the Commonwealth in 2013. Earlier this year in February, the company acquired the Cambridge-based Group Brokerage Insurance Agency.
“Bringing Kevin and his team into the DBA fold strengthens our presence in Massachusetts and across the Northeast,” says Mike Sullivan, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Digital Insurance. “For the past 20 years, SEBS has taken a strategic approach to providing employee benefits programs while delivering cost-saving solutions to nearly 950 small and medium-sized companies across the country. With Digital’s communications platform and the company’s emerging private exchange solution, their clients will now receive even greater value,” adds Sullivan.
SEBS, also formerly known as Northwestern Group Associate Insurance Agency, Inc. will now operate as Digital Benefit Advisors, a division of Digital Insurance. SEBS’s former team, consisting of Managing Principal Kevin O’Connor and his 14-member team will remain on at the new company with plans to open the company’s first office in Boston.
“Aligning with Digital will significantly broaden our capabilities and enable us to offer clients enhanced services and access to expert resources,” says O’Connor. “In light of the historic changes occurring in the benefits sector, aligning with an industry leader with a proven track-record will help us thrive and strengthen our marketplace position.”
Digital Insurance is currently the largest employee benefits-only agency in the U.S. It is a subsidiary of Fidelity National Financial. Interestingly, besides being a leading title insurer providing title insurance, and other title related services, Fidelity National Financial, Inc. also owns and operates the Ninety Nine Restaurants, ubiquitous throughout Massachusetts. Fidelity National Financial, Inc. is headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange with the ticker symbol: FNF.
