The MGA from South Carolina recently celebrated its 80th year in business
Johnson & Johnson, a fourth generation, family-owned managing general agency has acquired the H.T. Bailey Insurance Agency of Burlington, Mass. Johnson & Johnson, founded in Charleston, South Carolina in 1930, is a full-service MGA offering E&S markets, Standard markets, and Premium Financing to independent insurance agents in a variety of states including Massachusetts. With this latest acquisition, Johnson & Johnson, is looking to expand its presence in both the Massachusetts and New England marketplace.
“Bringing this agency into the Johnson & Johnson fold provides us with a terrific group of employees and agents that will expand our “service first” approach into the New England region served by H.T. Bailey,” said Francis Johnson, President, Johnson & Johnson. “With the additional resources of Johnson & Johnson, we can provide a broader range of products and services, including multiple markets for Personal Lines and a full service Premium Finance solution,” said Harry Johnson, Chief Operating Officer, Johnson & Johnson.
H.T. Bailey has been in Massachusetts for over 50 years
H.T. Bailey was started by the late Hamilton “Ham” Bailey Sr. in 1957 writing specialty surplus lines insurance coverage with both Lloyd’s of London and the Maurice Saval Group. Over the next decades the company grew until it became the largest independently owned specialty lines agency in Massachusetts. Specializing in underwriting and placing “difficult-to-place” risks that other markets are unwilling or unable to consider, the company’s distribution system is through the independent insurance agency system in New England.
“This is the perfect fit for our organization and the entire H.T. Bailey team is honored to be joining their highly respected and successful organization. Most importantly, we believe that our alignment with Johnson & Johnson will allow us to further strengthen our valued relationships with our agents through enhanced products and service. I am confident that the combined company will present many new opportunities for you, our valued agency partners,” said Tuck Bailey, Chairman and Treasurer of H.T. Bailey Insurance Group.
According to Johnson and Johnson, under its new ownership, H.T. Bailey will continue to offer the same first-class products and services, and will soon offer access to even more markets and products through Johnson & Johnson for independent insurance agents in this area.
