Mr. Chaves will be the first to hold this newly created position
Arbella has tapped Allen Chaves as its new director of data governance and research analytics. According to the Quincy-based insurer, in this newly created position, Mr. Chaves will act as the business lead for the insurer’s corporate data strategy initiative. He will also oversee both the organization’s data council and data certification efforts. Mr. Chaves, who has been with Arbella for more than five years, will also continue with his previous efforts involving his research analytics role. He will report to Hugh Thai.

Allen’s efforts in leading our new data strategy initiative will provide Arbella employees with the necessary data to continually enhance our analytics capabilities. This major initiative will allow us to quickly adapt to ever-changing market conditions, and taking full advantage of Allen’s unique skill set in this expanded role will help ensure that Arbella is constantly moving forward in the data and analytics arena.”
Allen Chaves
Mr. Chaves has spent more than 14 years in the Massachusetts insurance industry. His career began at Liberty Mutual, where he began as an underwriter, before being promoted to pricing and product analyst, then project manager, and ultimately project lead.
After leaving Liberty, Mr. Chaves joined Arbella. Over the more than five years that he has been with the Quincy-based insurer, Mr. Chaves has played an increasingly important role in “bridging the gap” between the insurers actuarial and research analytics teams with the rest of the departments within the company. For example, Arbella note Mr. Chaves was a vital part of implementing the insurer’s predictive models and ratings plans as well as helping the company become a strong competitor in the insurance marketplace.
A native of Wareham, Mr. Chaves received his Bachelor of Science from the University of New Hampshire. In addition to holding both the CPCU and API insurance designations, Mr. Chaves also holds ARC an AIAF insurance designations as well.
