Soderberg Insurance’s Sells See’s Candy To Help The Homeless
The Soderberg Insurance Services of Lynnfield, Mass. has been holding a candy sale to help the homeless. As they so rightly remind us, many of the homeless need are help throughout the entire year and not just during the holiday season.
We often remember the less fortunate during the holiday season. However, poverty and homelessness are with us every day of the year. At Soderberg Insurance Services, Inc. the staff reaches out to help the homeless every day. The Lynnfield based agency is selling delicious See’s chocolates in support of Boston’s oldest homeless shelter.
Founded in 1899, Boston Rescue Mission provides not only a clean bed and a nutritious meal to those in need, but also rehabilitative counceling. Many individuals who fall into homelessness suffer with drug and alcohol addiction. Boston Rescue Mission provides help to those who have lost their hope.
“We have many visitors each day” states agency president, Kathryn Soderberg, CPCU. She adds, “all members of the Soderberg team introduce the fundraiser and the charity to the agency’s clients and visitors. “Almost everyone supports the fundraiser, which brings us a lot of joy as we know we are raising money for a great cause.” The chocolates sell for $2.50 each. One hundred percent of the proceeds are donated directly to the charity. For more information, visit www.brm.org.
WTPHelan and MAPFRE Co-Sponsor CPR/First Aid Training Event For Agency’s Employees
WTPhelan Insurance Agency proudly hosted an onsite CPR and First Aid training co-sponsored by agency partner MAPFRE Insurance. On August 1, fifteen employees from the agency’s six branch locations became CPR and First Aid Certified.
The idea for this training came from our company’s greatest asset; our employees.” Said WTPhelan Vice-President, Robert Ramsey, “MAPFRE runs their company with the core value, ‘People who take care of people.’ Our staff’s request for this training complements the MAPFRE mission, and is a reflection of the similarities between our two companies. We were one of Commerce’s original agents, back in 1971 when Arthur Remillard started the company. We have evolved side-by-side and believe in the high quality products we sell, and are dedicated to protecting people and property.”
Training took place at the Woburn Square office, in the newly named John C. Martini Building. The historic location at 6 Common Street, (formerly Martini Insurance Agency) adjacent to city hall offered ample parking and a large meeting space to hold the event. (WTPhelan acquired Martini Insurance in January 2016.)
WTPhelan was recently recognized as one of the ‘Best Independent Agencies to Work For’ by the Insurance Journal, in large part due to the value they place on employee feedback. At the agency’s annual summit last November, employees were asked for suggestions on what would enhance their work environment. Several staff members mentioned CPR and First Aid training, and identified colleagues’ food allergies as a particular area of concern.
Everquote adds Home and Life Insurance
Online insurance platform, Everquote has added home and life insurance to the mix. The two new lines of insurance are now available via both its consumer experience and its direct agent platform, Everquote PRO.
“EverQuote’s data and technology have created an experience for auto insurance consumers and agents that is unmatched across the industry,” said EverQuote CEO Seth Birnbaum. “We’re excited to not only see that success replicated in home and life insurance, but also to drastically improve upon the process for both parties through data-driven and data-proven solutions.”
One of the earlier insurtech start-ups, Cambridge-based Everquote now says that it is the largest online insurance marketplace. To back up its claim, the company says that every month, more than 1.5 million consumers shop for auto, and now home and life insurance on Everquote, which then matches those consumers with both PRO carriers and agents in real-time. As of 2017, the company has more than tripled in consumer demand, while August saw it also gain additional access to over 7,000 agents via its PRO platform.
