The primary function is the production of an underwriting profit through the effective development and maintenance of quality business consistent with the overall business plan objectives, under general direction and within specific authority granted.
The position is responsible for accepting or rejecting new business and continually developing renewal business in accordance with the company’s underwriting practices. This professional will work in our MA territory.
Evaluates new business opportunities and renewals and makes profitable, individual risk judgments based on thorough understanding of Arbella’s underwriting philosophies and guidelines.
Demonstrates skill in risk analysis, negotiation, and proposing terms and pricing to procure a profitable book of commercial lines business.
Effectively manage the priority of work and processing within the underwriting territory to provide excellent service to our agents, and meet company financial objectives.
Recommend processing and workflow improvements, as appropriate.
Works closely with our Territory Marketing Managers to ensure consistent messaging to our agencies.
Provide timely, courteous, and efficient service regarding underwriting and related matters to Producers and Policyholders
Candidate will be hired at the appropriate level based on skills and experience.
- Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of CL underwriting experience in a property and casualty environment preferred.
- Excellent relationship building, communication and customer service skills required.
