The annual drawing will be held at the RMV’s new branch in Haymarket Center
The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles annual low number license plate lottery drawing will be held today, September 10th. In a break from past years, this year’s annual drawing will be open to the public .
“As we move our operations to a new Boston neighborhood next month, we are offering the public the opportunity to attend the plate drawing and get a sneak-peek at our new branch, Haymarket Center,” said Registrar Blue.
This year’s low number plate drawing will be held from 4:30-6:30 pm at 136 Blackstone Street in Boston. Overall, the RMV received more than 6,600 applications for this year’s lottery which will draw names for the 160 low number plates available this year. Of those, the number ‘351’ will be one of those awarded this year which represents the number of cities and towns existing in Massachusetts.
Note if you can’t make the drawing, we will be posting the winning names and numbers like we have down for the past few years.
The new Haymarket Branch will be the RMV’s Central Branch in Boston
The new Haymarket Center branch located at 136 Blackstone Street in Boston will replace the Boston RMV branch on Washington Street in Chinatown. That branch has served as the central branch in Boston since 1998. The new space will feature a dedicated E-ZPass Service Customer Center, more privacy for customer’s transactions and hearings as well as consolidated licensing and registration counters for a more efficient and pleasant customer experience. The new space will be located on the second and third floors directly over the Boston Public Market which is to be located on the first floor.
In addition, the new Haymarket Center is now located in a MassDOT-owned spaced and is fully accessible to both the Green and Orange lines as well as to 10 different bus routes.
While public who attend the drawing tomorrow will be allowed into the new space, the new Haymarket Center will officially open for business on September 15th.
