More than half of Progressive’s business in the U.S. is written by independent agents
The Progressive Group of Insurance Companies is now appointing new agents in Massachusetts.
“Everyone knows Flo. It’s hard to miss our commercials. But many people don’t realize we’re the leading auto insurer through independent agents in the country and we’re pleased to bring our product to agents in Massachusetts,” said Progressive Regional Sales Manager, Steven Pichette. “More than half of Progressive’s business is written by independent agents and we’re finding that Progressive is a natural fit in many agents’ offices here in Massachusetts because we offer competitive rates, superior claims handling and technology that makes quoting and binding fast and easy.”
Progressive first entered the Massachusetts automobile insurance marketplace in May 2014. This marketplace was the 50th and final state for Progressive and its national auto product roll-out. Since 2014, Progressive has gone on to become one of the top ten auto insurers in Massachusetts.
Now that it has established itself in the Massachusetts automobile insurance marketplace, the insurer says it is now actively looking for independent agents in Massachusetts who are interested in adding Progressive products to their agency’s portfolio.
The products Progressive is offering to Mass. agents
In addition to personal automobile insurance, Progressive also offers commercial auto, classic cars, business insurance, RVs, boats, and motorcycles. Currently, homeowners insurance is offered through select carriers including Progressive’s majority-owned subsidiary American Strategic Insurance (ASI). Now that Progressive has a controlling interest in ASI, the insurer says that it is planning to improve the home and bundling options that it can offer to agents.
Newly appointed agents also are granted access to its Progressive’s propriety programs, including Snapshot, currently one of the leading usage-based insurance programs in the country. For those agents unfamiliar with Snapshot, it is a voluntary program which allows drivers to earn discounts on the insurance based upon their safe driving habits.
As for company support, Progressive offers co-branded sales materials and cross-sell tools to help its agents market all of the Progressive product options.
