A quiet end to this year’s hurricane season leads to flat rates in October
“Personal line insurers survived another wind season relatively unscathed,” noted Richard Kerr, CEO of Dallas-based MarketScout. “Insurance professionals feel as though it has been a long, long time since any significant windstorm has hit Florida or the Gulf Coast. However, in terms of mother nature’s time clock, this is only a short blip. It is very possible we will not see a significant wind event for another decade. If so, prices will continue to be very competitive.”

As a result, personal lines rates for this month have remained flat. According to the Dallas-based exchange which which analyzes the premium rate trends each month, both Homeowner’s premiums and personal articles remained unchanged while only personal automobile coverage saw an increase of 1 percent.
