CAR announced the latest Governing Committee Appointments on July 13th
The Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers announced this month that three new appointments to the CAR Governing Committee have been approved.
As of July 1st, 2016 Ms. Pamela L. Bodenstab-Krynicki, representing the P. L. Krynicki Insurance Agency, Ms. Carroll M. Foley, representing The Hanover Insurance Company, and Ms. Meredith M. Woodcock, representing the Liberty Mutual Group were all welcomed as the newest members CAR’s Governing Committee.
According to CAR, each of the appointments are effective July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2022.
Additional changes and reappointments were also approved this year…
In addition to the above appointments, the Commissioner of Insurance also approved a couple of additional changes to this year’s Committee. The first was the appointment of Mr. Thomas A. Harris, representing Quincy Mutual Group. Mr. Harris’ appointment was confirmed in order to complete the term of retiring Governing Committee member, Mr. John P. Tierney who also represented The Quincy Mutual Group. Mr. Harris is part of the Senior Management of the Quincy-based insurer and currently serves as the Senior Vice President, Finance & Treasurer of the Quincy Mutual Group.
In addition, it was also announced that Commissioner reappointed Mr. John V. Kelly, representing MAPFRE U.S.A. Corporation to CAR’s Governing Committee.
A look at the new 2016 Governing Committee
The following is a complete list of the Governing Committee members as of July 1st. The Governing Committee is responsible for the administration of CAR, which is the industry operated residual market and statistical agent for motor vehicle insurance in Massachusetts. The Governing Committee is the body “…responsible for the administration of CAR, including the preparation and filing of the Plan and Rules of Operation and the adoption and filing of any amendments to the Plan or Rules of Operation.” The Governing Committee is comprised of thirteen members appointed by the Commissioner of Insurance to serve a six-year term. Seven members are from insurance companies, with the remaining six spots appointed to associations representing Massachusetts insurance agents. Two of the six members representing insurance producers are assigned risk producers, or agents who do not have a voluntary contract.
