Mr. Christiansen is an insurance industry veteran with extensive executive experience
The Renaissance Insurance Alliance (“RAIS”) has named Michael R. Christiansen as its new Managing Director, Strategic Business Development. An insurance industry veteran with more than three decades of executive experience, Mr. Christiansen has been brought on board to aid RAIS’ management and business development teams to foster growth and to develop a host of new strategic initiatives.

Michael R. Christiansen
Mr. Christiansen’s insurance industry career spans almost three decades. Prior to joining RAIS, he served as Regional President, Northeast Region, Business Insurance at Liberty Mutual. In this position, he oversaw six regional offices and approximately 475 employees, while also being responsible for $1.1 billion in direct written premium in small and middle market commercial lines for the New England states, New Jersey and New York.
During his tenure at Liberty Mutual, Mr. Christiansen has held various executive positions throughout the region including as President for Peerless Insurance, Keene, NH. He also served for a number of years as the Regional President of Hanover Insurance Group, Worcester, Mass. His career first began in Commercial Lines marketing at the (former) Kemper Group.
A graduate of Denison University in Ohio with a BA in Economics, Mr. Christiansen also holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA, and completed the Advanced Executive Education Program at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. His insurance designations include both Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM).
