Mr. Griffin has been with one of Massachusetts’ oldest independent agencies for eight years
The Dowd Insurance Agencies has promoted David W. Griffin, Jr. to the position of vice president. Mr. Griffin, who works alongside his father at the oldest family-owned independent agency in Massachusetts, has been with the firm for eight years having joined in 2009.
The Dowd Insurance Agencies is the oldest family-owned agency in Massachusetts,” said David W. Griffin, Sr., “and I am very proud that my son has chosen to continue that legacy of family leadership. We look forward to the future with a strong management team in place. Now a part of that team, Dave earned his place by honing in on his sales and customer service skills and adding responsibilities that benefit our internal team and our customers.”
Mr. Griffin officially assumed his new position this past December. In this new role, he will continue to focus on growing the organization via new business development opportunities, strategic initiatives, operational efficiency as well as maximizing the agency’s use of technology. While based in the Dowd Agencies’ Holyoke office, Mr. Griffin also works with the firm’s other branches in Hadley, Southampton, Ludlow and Indian Orchard.
Dave has grown considerably in his evolving role here at Dowd,” said John E. Dowd, Jr. president and chief executive officer of The Dowd Insurance Agencies. “While sales is his primary function, his aptitude and enthusiasm for technology has been a welcome skillset for our agency and he is now in charge of IT here at Dowd. Dave has demonstrated a command of these responsibilities in a relatively short period of time. We decided it was time to make him an officer of the corporation where he can interact regularly with senior management and help manage the overall direction of the agency going forward.”

The Dowd Insurance Agencies and Quincy Mutual
Along with being one of the oldest family owned agencies in Massachusetts, the Dowd Agencies are also looking forward. Besides continuing the family-owned tradition, the Dowd Insurance Agencies last year was the first agency to partner with Quincy Mutual in that insurers agency investment program.
