For those individuals interested in submitting an initiative petitions for a proposed law and/or constitutional amendment, the deadline to do so is this Wednesday, August 7th at 5 p.m. Agency Checklists has reprinted the Attorney General’s announcement on the matter which includes the process for submitting a petition below:
The deadline for initiative petitions to be submitted to the Attorney General’s Office is Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 5 p.m. A list of all the petitions along with contact information will be updated on the AG’s website .
This filing deadline starts the process for proposed laws and constitutional amendments to appear on the statewide election ballot. As directed by state law, the Attorney General’s Office will review whether the initiative petitions meet certain constitutional requirements and can be certified to file with the Secretary of State. Decisions on certifications are expected to be released on Sept. 4, 2019.
