Lending a hand to the community during COVID-19
GEICO Boston – South Shore surprised 120 local shoppers on MAy 27, 2020 with gift cards as they entered Shaw’s supermarket in Braintree to help pay for their groceries, donating $3,000 directly to local residents. As a new locally-owned business, GEICO Boston – South Shore wanted to do something to help the community it serves, offering a little relief and a smile when needed most.
“We opened our office doors in Braintree mid-November and the one thing that continues to amaze me is how tight knit and supportive this community is,” said Eric Vaden, GEICO Boston – South Shore Agency Owner. “People really show up for each other and we are proud to be a part of that. This pandemic has thrown new challenges at all of us and we just wanted to let local residents know we’re in this together and here to offer support.”
GEICO Boston – South Shore is staffed with eighteen highly specialized local agents, many of whom grew up in or near the area and are invested in the Boston and South Shore communities.
“Getting the opportunity to give back to the community I grew up in is really inspiring,” said Tom Drummond Jr, local agent and Weymouth resident. “We all take pride in being a helpful resource, whether through advice to save our customers money when they need it most or through community initiatives like this. We’re happy to be able to do our part.”
As an additional way to help alleviate some financial stress during COVID-19, GEICO is currently providing policyholders with a fifteen percent credit on customers’ next 6-month or 12-month auto and motorcycle policies through its GEICO Giveback program, saving customers about $150 per auto policy on average.
