Risman Insurance Acquires Insurance Associates of Burlington, MA

August 18, 2020 by Agency Checklists

Risman acquires Burlington's Insurance Associates

This is the fourth acquisition for the Risman Agency in 2020

Risman Insurance Agencies is pleased to announce the acquisition of Insurance Associates, Inc., of Burlington, Massachusetts, on August 3, 2020. Henry Risman, President of Risman Insurance Agencies, says, “We are honored to take over ownership of Insurance Associates, a highly respected agency that has been serving Burlington area residents and business owners since 1934.”

Insurance Associates has been a family-owned and -operated business and a prominent member of the community for over eight decades. Michael Curry, the second generation of Curry’s to run the agency, is pleased to leave his agency in the experienced hands of the Risman Insurance team.

Mr. Curry says, “I have enjoyed working with generations of loyal clients and many longtime employees. I am confident that they will find a home at Risman Insurance Agencies, which has also been a family-owned and -operated business since 1925. Henry Risman and his team are well known in the industry for their knowledge, professionalism, and exceptional customer service.”

Risman Insurance Agencies, headquartered in Medford, is one of only a handful of independent insurance agencies in Massachusetts that has received the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents’ (MAIA) Five Star Agency Designation. This designation is awarded to agencies who, after a rigorous review of every aspect of their business and services, are found to meet the highest standards of quality in all areas.

Mr. Risman says, “We have always held ourselves to the peak standards of our industry. In addition to our MAIA Five Star Agency designation, we are also an Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA) National Best Practices Agency. My team and I will continue to aim to be a top-performing independent insurance agency.”

As the company approaches its 100th year in business, Mr. Risman is always looking for ways to expand and improve his agency. In addition to welcoming Insurance Associates, Risman acquired three other area agencies in 2020: Phil Richard Insurance Agency and MassPay Insurance Services, both located in Danvers, and T.F. Ward/Melrose Insurance Group in Melrose, bringing the overall total of agency acquisitions to 17.

Mr. Risman says, “We have consistently sought out acquisition relationships with well-run, high-quality independent insurance agencies in Massachusetts. When possible, we hope to retain the acquired agency’s employees, locations, and agency name. This is exactly how we are handling Insurance Associates. We do want our new customers to know that with Risman, they will now have broader access to the products and services they need, at competitive rates, to protect the most important people and things in their lives.”

With its latest acquisition, Risman Insurance Agencies will have eight convenient locations. The main office is located at 689 Fellsway, Medford, and other office locations include Tewksbury, North Reading, Danvers, Dorchester, and Melrose.
