The Quincy Mutual Group has announced to policyholders that it will be providing a new “Stay at Home Auto Premium Refund” in response to the COVID-19 global pandemic. In an April 15, 2020 letter posted on its website, Quincy Mutual President & COO Thomas Harris wrote in part:
“To our Policyholders:
Thank you for the trust you have placed in us. Today, we recognize that the COVID-19 pandemic may be causing personal and financial hardship for you. During these challenging times, it is our desire to alleviate some of the daily pressures you are experiencing and to be by your side in the return to normalcy. There has never been a
better time to highlight the Quincy Mutual motto, “To Insure is Human.”
As we all do our best to stay at home and practice social distancing, it is clear that you are driving less and that we are paying fewer automobile claims. In recognition of this reduction in miles driven and fewer claims, we are pleased to announce that we are declaring a “Stay at Home Auto Premium Refund.” The program consists of a refund of $25 per vehicle to policyholders with active policies as of April 30, 2020. By way of example, a single vehicle policyholder will receive a $25 check; a three-car policyholder will receive a $75 check. We will issue the refund by directly mailing a check to you.
This refund applies to private passenger vehicles, pick-up trucks, and vans. In sum, we are returning approximately $2.5 Million, which equates to approximately 20% of the total automobile premium we expect to collect in April and May.”
In addition, the company also is offering flexible payment solutions for those policyholders experiencing financial hardship.
