Latest Updates from CAR and the MAIP as of August 4th:
- With the approval of amendments to Rules 21.C.5 and 29.D.2 which were announced in the CAR Bulletin 945, CAR has updated and implemented the down payment requirements for eligible policies.
- CAR has a new PDF Viewer which allows the entire MAIP section to be accessed by mobile devices such as the iPad and iPhone. CAR modified the reporting engine on the MAIP website to produce all the documents as .PDF documents due to the download time required to view reports using the Crystal Reports viewer with Java. Also it found that many mobile devices like the iPad do not support that type of technology. Reports that have been modified include the Application for Massachusetts Automobile Insurance, the Pre-Insurance forms and all of the Company and Division of Insurance reports.
- The MAIP Quota Share Report and Assignment Order Report are available on the Company and DOI Pages. CAR says that the report has been updated to include statistical data for June 2010 to May 2011 effective month policies reported through July 15, 2011. Additional reports providing detailed information concerning the data used in the Quota Share calculation can also be accessed by Member Companies. Anyone with Questions cans contact Timothy Galligan at tgalligan@commauto.com or at 617.880.7286.
- Regarding MAIP Non-Compliance (This was originally announced in May) – “The MAIP performance standards compliance application now allows Assigned Risk Companies and/or Assigned Risk Producers to attach documents when filing or responding to a particular alleged non-compliance issue. The attachments are viewable by all parties subject to the filing and multiple documents may be attached. Email notifications are system-generated, alerting all parties to the attachments.”
