The 2011 Low Number Lottery Plates were announced last night. The RMV says that a pool of just under 6,000 applicants vied for the coveted Massachusetts license plates. As Agency Checklists mentioned to agents yesterday, this is a great opportunity for you to connect with your auto insurance clients.
“The low number plate lottery continues to be very popular and we are committed to making sure all vehicle owners have an equal opportunity to get these prized registrations,” said Registrar Kaprielian. “Thank you to everyone who participated and I encourage everyone who didn’t get a plate this time to enter next year’s lottery.”
The Registry of Motor Vehicles is the oldest motor vehicle administrative agency in the United States and issued its first license plate in 1903. Many of the top ten single digit plates given out are still in the hands of the same families and passed on down through the generations. Winners have until December 31st to claim their plate or else it will automatically forfeited to the list of the 25 alternate winners also chosen during the drawing.
