STATE HOUSE NEWS SERVICE – Using a mixture of volunteers and paid signature gatherers, the coalition planning to place on the 2012 ballot a proposal aimed at ensuring that auto repair shops have access to all non-proprietary information needed for repairs says it’s gathered 50,000 signatures over four weeks. The Right to Repair Coalition, and other groups hoping to place questions on the November 2012 ballot, must collect 68,911 certified signatures by November 23rd. Coalition officials said they’d reached the 50,000 mark sooner than expected. Legislative leaders have given no indication that they plan to deal with the bill, which has drawn heavy lobbying in recent years, in an effort to head off the ballot question.
