Farrell Backlund Solidifies Its Status In Southeastern MA With Latest Acquisition

November 10, 2011 by AC Editor

Both the Taunton Gazette and the Insurance Journal reported this week that the Richardson-Cuddy Agency of Attleboro has merged with Farell Backlund, of Taunton, MA. This merger is poised to make Farrell Backlund one of the largest agencies in southeastern Massachusetts, according to both publications.  Farrell Backlund is part of Bristol County Savings Bank which is also based in Taunton, MA and has been designated a Five Star Agency by the MAIA. The Taunton Gazette reported that Farrell Backlund has 55 employees while Richardson-Cuddy has 15 and that no job cuts are expected as a result of the merger.

The Insurance Journal reports that Mark Cuddy, who is the president of Richardson-Cuddy will continue as the head of his former agency and will join the ownership team of the newly merged entity.  Insurance Journal also reported that Farrell Backlund’s CEO Don Backlund, CIC, CWCA said that “…the deal allows his firm to realize its long-time goal of expanding into the Attleboro area.”

Agency Checklists contacted Farrell Backlund but did not receive a response in time for the publication of this article.
