New RMV-Bruins Raffle Agents Should Let Their Insureds Know About

April 2, 2012 by Owen Gallagher

Here is a new license plate raffle that agents might want to let their insureds know about.

“One lucky winner will have the chance to show they are the ultimate Boston Bruins fan by driving around with Boston Bruins Massachusetts license plate #1.”

Last week at the TD Garden, MassDOT RMV Registrar Kaprielian launched the new Bruins License Plate Raffle with Bruins Foundation Senior Vice President Amy Latimer, Executive Director Bob Sweeney and Mass Hockey Executive Director Kevin Kavanagh. The plate and raffle is being held to boost Foundation efforts on behalf of youth hockey.

“This effort by the Bruins Foundation will re-energize the public’s interest in the Bruins specialty license plate series,” said Registrar Kaprielian. “Our hope is that it will also increase overall awareness of the RMV’s specialty plate program and the number of charities Massachusetts residents may choose to support.”

The No. 1 plate will be raffled off as the prize and those interested in participating have until May 4 at 5:00 p.m. Agents can let their insureds know that tickets can be purchased at www.bruinsraffles.org.

The RMV says that so far the license plate featuring the Bruins Spoked-B logo has raised over $900,000 for Mass Hockey initiatives. In addition, the Boston Bruins Foundation says that the funds raised by the plates have also been used for the following:

  • to support individual town programs
  • to raise awareness of the parental and spectator conduct code
  • to benefit the youth amputee program
  • to defer costs related to the installation of equipment for hearing impaired players
  • to help with the establishment of programs for autistic players
  • to finance summer hockey camp scholarships for players who are foster children with the Mass. Dept. of Social Services

The plates cost $40, with $28 going to Massachusetts Hockey, Inc., and $12 one-time only for manufacturing expenses.  Thereafter, the entire $40 renewal fee will go to Mass Hockey.  This is in addition to the standard $36 registration renewal fee.  A Boston Bruins “Invest in Youth Hockey” license plate can also be purchased at all full-service Registry branches or online at www.bostonbruins.com.
