The Northern United Agents Alliance was formed in 2011 in New Hampshire
The independent agency partnership, Northern United Agents Alliance (NUAA), has announced that it will partner with Scarafoni Financial Group to form Berkshire Fairfield Insurance Agency. Scarafoni Financial Group, established in Pittsfield in 1993, provides corporate benefits and financial and insurance services.
Berkshire Fairfield will be based in Pittsfield and will offer both property casualty insurance products as well as risk management services. J.J. Filiault will be Berkshire Fairfield’s President with Matthew J. Scarafoni as Chief Executive Officer and Brian M. Tremblay as Chief Financial Officer.
“Expanding into the P&C market place has always been part of the master plan for us,” explained Matthew Scarafoni, President of Scarafoni Financial Group, “and now that we have partnered with NUAA we will greatly expand and improve our value proposition and resources for our clients.”
“I love being a commercial insurance agent,” Filiault said. “It’s been my dream to lead an agency and to create a uniquely identifiable experience by which we service our clients in this dynamic and evolving industry.”
In 2011, four New Hampshire agencies joined together to form the Northern United Agents Alliance: Clark-Mortenson Agency of Keene; Davis & Towle Insurance Group of Concord; Eaton & Berube Insurance Agency of Nashua; and The Melcher & Prescott Insurance Agency of Laconia. While the partnership has been active in bringing in already established agencies as members, this is the first time it has partnered with another company to form an entirely new insurance agency.
“This is a new approach for us,” said Jeff Towle, President of Davis & Towle. “Until now we have only brought in well-established P&C agencies, but there are many great producers in large shops who would like an opportunity to become business owners, and we believe we have created a model that that will set them up to be successful.”
NUAA founding partners Marc Berube, President of Eaton & Berube and Shaun Farley, COO of Melcher & Prescott are also confident about this new venture.
“We have tremendous confidence in our Berkshire Fairfield partners and look forward to sharing our experience and contacts with them,” said Marc Berube, President of Eaton & Berube.
“The barriers to entry into P&C for new insurance agencies these days are overwhelming, and we have created a model that has significantly reduced them,” adds Shaun Farley, COO of Melcher & Prescott. With over $200 Million in written premiums, NUAA now has 10 participating agencies with 31 locations in four New England States.
