RMV Announces New Customer Service Number

August 6, 2012 by AC Editor

857-DOT-8000 or 857-368-8000 is the new RMV customer service number
The Registry of Motor Vehicles has a new number for business and transactions. 857-DOT-8000 which went live on August 1, 2012 receives approximately 45,000 calls a month.

“The Call Center is one part of our customer-service oriented operation and serves a population accustomed to receiving assistance and performing transactions with a helpful voice on the other end of the line,” said Registrar of Motor Vehicles Rachel Kaprielian.

MassDOT numbers across the Commonwealth are expected to transition to new numbers with the 857 area code over the coming year. MassDOT’s switch to a new telephone system is expected to save the department approximately $422,000 in annual phone bill and maintenance costs.

“Transportation Reform continues with 857-DOT,” said MassDOT Secretary and CEO Richard A. Davey. “We are replacing the antiqued and redundant telecom systems of the RMV, Turnpike, MassHighway and Executive Office of Transportation to realize significant savings and improve customer service.”

Also, just a friendly reminder that the low plate lottery is still going on. Your insureds have until August 14, 2012 to fill out and send in a form.
