The Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers, the operator of the residual market for motor vehicle insurance in Massachusetts, will hold both its Annual Meeting and a Governing Committee Meeting tomorrow, on November 14, 2012. The 2012 Annual Meeting will take place at 10:30 am followed by the Governing Committee meeting at 11:00 am. Both sessions will be held at the CAR offices located at 225 Franklin Street, Boston. Anyone interested in attending is welcome to do so, just remember to fill out the CAR Visitor Security Form.
Under Massachusetts law, CAR must hold an annual meeting each year and within a 75-day period of the end of its fiscal year. A copy of the CAR Annual Report will be distributed to those attending. In addition, under the guidelines of Rules 4.C.1 and 24.C.1 of the CAR Rules of Operation, the Governing Committee will be charged with selecting a Chairman and Vice Chairman.
The Governing Committee’s current chairman is William J. Cahill, Jr., Vice President and Group Counsel of the Hanover Insurance Company. Former Insurance Commissioner Julianne Bowler appointed Mr. Cahill to the Governing Committee in 2004. In 2010, he was elected Chairman.
