As part of the new launch, Project CAP will pick one agency to be the model agency reviewed by insurance service providers throughout the year
This month, Project CAP unveils “Agency 2020”, a new program aimed at helping the independent insurance agency system become more competitive within the insurance marketplace. As Tony Gonsalves, senior vice president of Project CAP explains, “The scope and format of the Agency 2020 program emphasize the entire lifecycle of the independent agency — from hiring young talent to the firm’s perpetuation process. [It will be] … a holistic, complete look at a broad range of elements that will combine to make an independent agency successful in the year 2020 and beyond. It aims to help all agencies improve by focusing on their strengths and challenges.”
Beginning in April and each month thereafter, the Agency 2020 program will spotlight a key element of a successful independent agency and by providing insight and information by a leading service provider in that specific field. The April kick-off session will begin with a complementary agency valuation and appraisal provided by Reagan Consulting, which is a co-author of the IIABA Best Practices Study. The following is a list of the other insurance service providers and what topic they will be contributing to during the Agency 2020 program.

An integral part of the program will be the selection of a grand-prize winner who over the course of the year will undergo a review by each of these providers and act as a model on one can improve their own agency. To be considered for the drawing, any member of the agency of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA) can enter by completing the brief application for at ProjectCAPMarketing.com/agency2020. The deadline for entering is March 24, 2013.
To receive the monthly updates and progress reports, agents will be able to read about the updates on the Project CAP website and the IIABA’s IA magazine as well as their social media sites. Agency Checklists is also planning to publish the monthly updates as well.
