Soderberg Insurance Services of Lynnfield, MA recently celebrated Douglas and Frances Soderberg for their mutual lifetime achievement in insurance. The couple, both originally from Maine, married in 1957 and have lived in Lynnfield since 1965.
In 1957, Douglas Soderberg, CLU, CPCU, ChFC entered the insurance industry as a life sales agent for Aetna Life & Casualty. In 1968, he and his wife decided to start Soderberg Insurance Services after being transferred to the Aetna Boston Agency. Mr. Soderberg attended the University of Florida and graduated from Ricker College, Houlton, Maine and received his Master of Science in Finance degree from the American College in Bryn Mawr, PA.
He is a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table and the agency he has built, alongside his wife, is now in the top 10 percent of independent insurance agencies in Massachusetts with respect to premium volume. In addition to having been previously the youngest general life at Aetna Life Insurance (age 24), Douglas also earned numerous industry designations throughout his career in insurance. Currently, Mr. Soderberg focuses on the commercial lines business side of the agency.
Frances Soderberg, co-founder of Soderberg Insurance Services and also a native of Northern Maine, is still very much active in the agency’s daily business and continues to oversee the general operations of the agency. She is a graduate of the University of Maine in Orono, Maine and was accepted to Harvard University Graduate School, but deferred in order to marry her high school sweetheart Douglas Soderberg. Prior to joining Soderberg Insurance, Frances worked for a year in research and development at Arthur D. Little Co. in Cambridge, MA.
In 2000, Kathryn Soderberg, CPCU, the Soderberg’s daughter became the President of the agency. Over the last 13 years, she has transformed the business into a niche-market agency focused on the Hispanic marketplace. Ms. Soderberg, who is fluent in Spanish, boasts a bi-lingual workforce where more than 35 percent of their current clientele is Hispanic.
