On April 1, 2013, the Massachusetts Property Insurance Underwriting Association unveiled it new Electronic Application Submission system. The Association says this new option is an effort to provide producers with a more efficient means of applying for coverage with the FAIR Plan. The system can be used during submissions for Homeowners and Dwelling Fire Applications.
Additional highlights of the new system include a fully validated application and associated forms and an application management tool to save, print and track an application’s status. Overall, the MPIUA says the new system will streamline the whole submission process and will enhance its response times.
“MPIUA believes the introduction of this system will benefit producers greatly. Some of the benefits producers will receive include a validation process during completion of the application, which will eliminate most rejections for incompleteness, an application management feature, which provides ability to track applications as they move through the process and MPIUA’s improved processing times from applications received in this manner.”
Producers can find the new Electronic Application option via the producer portal under the “Online Applications” section. In addition, the MPIUA has created a training video accessible within the portal to assist in completing the application. Note, however, that the Electronic Application may not function in all web browsers as such, the FAIR Plan suggests the use of Internet Explorer when using the system.
Producers who have further questions or problems should contact the MPIUA’s Consumer Service Department.
