Quincy Mutual Group’s New Executive Vice President

Jim Moran, James Moran of Quincy Mutual, Agency ChecklistsJames J. Moran has been elected an Executive Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel of the 160-year old Quincy Mutual Group. Mr. Moran first joined the Massachusetts-based mutual insurance company in 2001, after having served three years as the President of Eastern Casualty Insurance Company.

Prior to that, Mr. Moran was an insurance lawyer for 20 years where he concentrated on the representation of insurance companies and agents on corporate, claims, regulatory and legislative matters. He retired as a senior partner of Morrison Mahoney, LLP in 1998.

In addition to his work with The Quincy Mutual Group, Mr. Moran also serves as an outside director of the Coverys Group, the eighth largest writer of medical malpractice insurance in the country. He is also the chairman of the board of the Massachusetts Insurers’ Insolvency Fund and a director of the Massachusetts Insurance Federation and the South Shore Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Moran is a graduate of both Boston College and Boston College Law School. He was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1978. In addition to his legal credentials, Mr. Moran is also a Chartered Property-Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and an Associate in Reinsurance (ARe).
