See our Agency Interview with Ely Kaplansky of Kaplansky Insurance
Kaplanksy Insurance has been re-certified as a “Five Star Insurance Agency” by the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents. The company which has held the distinction since 2006, is based in Brookline with a total of 11 locations in Brookline, Cambridge, Concord, Fairhaven, Marlboro, Maynard, Milford, Needham, Newton, Truro and Weymouth.
In order to retain the Five Star Designation, the agency had to successfully complete the MAIA’s “fitness review” which is a comprehensive examination of an agency’s excellence in five areas: Customer Focus, Management/Leadership Excellence, Human Resource Excellence, Process & Product Excellence and Future Success. Currently only 27 independent insurance agencies in Massachusetts and Rhode Island hold this distinction.
“They [Kaplansky] continue to demonstrate excellence in many areas including leadership, planning and accountability. They have a strategic marketing approach that uses various forms of marketing tools to best attract and gain business both from traditional means as well as newer methods that are more attractive to younger generations,” explained Frank Mancini, the MAIA’s President and CEO. “Technology is also another area in which they excel, strategically using it to increase efficiency, effectiveness and customer satisfaction. All of these points as well as many others result in an outstanding agency that is certainly Five Star,” concluded Mancini.
A perfect example of this occurred earlier this week, when Kaplansky Insurance’s website was shortlisted by Property & Casualty 360 as one of the finalists for the Best Agency Website in the U.S. And for the owner Ely Kaplansky, the Five Star Designation, like an award winning website, is integral to helping make Kaplansky Insurance the best it can be.
“We have a great staff that works hard at doing the right thing for our clients. Being designated as a Five Star Agency gives us great pride and confirms that we are indeed doing the ‘right’ thing,” said Ely Kaplansky, owner of the Kaplansky Insurance Agencies.
Are you interested in applying for the Five Star Award of Distinction For Your Agency?
For those agencies interested in the idea of obtaining a Five Star Distinction from the MAIA, your first step should be to contact Heather Kramer, CIC, Vice President of Training. One can also check out the Five Star Award of Excellence page on the MAIA website.
In particular, it is important to note that in order to receive this distinction for one’s agency, the review will require that a team from the MAIA come into the agency’s premises and conduct confidential interviews with one’s agency personnel. Upon completion of this on-site examination, the same team will then meet and discuss their individual findings on each of the criteria mentioned above. At the end of the review process, the same team will prepare and present a final report to the agency listing the company’s strengths and weaknesses as well as areas of improvement.
In order to maintain the Five Star Distinction, a similar fitness review will need to be conducted every three years. The cost for each day of the review is $1,800 with the process taking a minimum of three-days to be completed.
