Mass. Agent Joe Leahy Joins Big “I” Leadership; IIABA Installs New Leadership Team

Joe Leahy, of Leahy & Brown is the newest member of the association’s executive committee

MA Insurance, Agency ChecklistsJoe Leahy of Leahy and Brown Insurance and Reality was installed as the newest executive committee member at the Big “I” Association’s 2013 Fall Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas.  Leahy is the co-founder of Leahy & Brown, an agency he founded with his wife Frances in 1989 in Springfield.

“Joe has long been a leader in the Massachusetts agent community and at the national level,” says Robert Rusbuldt, Big “I” president & CEO. “The Big ‘I’ is pleased to announce that he has been elected as the executive committee’s newest member and we look forward to having his insight and utilizing his experience on our leadership team.”

From 2008 until 2013, Leahy served as the Massachusetts director on the Big “I” national board. In addition to his work for agents at the national level, Leahy has also served at the state association level, as an elected executive committee member of the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents in 2001 and then as its chairman in 2005.

New Hampshire Agent Tom Minkler is installed as this year’s Big “I” Chairman

In addition to Leahy joining the Big “I” Executive Committee, New Hampshire agent, Thomas Minkler, was installed as the new chairman of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America. Minkler is the president of MA Insurance News, Agency Checkliststhe Clark-Mortenson Agency in Keene, NH and oversees a staff of 53 employees spread out among his company’s eight offices in New Hampshire and Vermont.
“Tom continues to be a national advocate for independent agents and brokers and small business people in the United States,” says Robert Rusbuldt, Big “I” president & CEO. “His commitment to his clients, fellow agents and small business people is second to none. In his numerous association leadership roles, he has testified before Congressional committees and has met with countless national decision-makers regarding critical issues that directly impact small businesses and the industry. Tom also continues to play a key role in the development and implementation of the Consumer Agent Portal (CAP), formed by the Big ‘I’ and six leading insurance companies to develop the digital marketing platforms, programs, systems and services to build their brands and advance their presence to better serve today’s online consumer. We are proud to a have him at the helm as the new Big ‘I’ chairman.”
Mr. Minkler has been a great champion of the Consumer Agent Portal and is a past chairman of the Big “I” Government Affairs Committee. Over the years, he has served on a number of Big “I” committees including the Professional Liability Committee, the Agents Advocacy Fund, the IIAA Agency Administrative Services Board of Directors, and the Captive Study Committee.
Rounding out the new Big “I” Leadership Team is David Walker, CIC, AAI, LIC, ARM, president of the Hartland Insurance Agency in Hartland, Michigan and Randy Lanoix, president of Lanoix Insurance Agency in Lutcher and Brusly, La.
