MAPFRE/Commerce is the largest auto insurer in Massachusetts
MAPFRE/Commerce announced late last week that it will be launching its new DriveAdvisorSM Program in Massachusetts. The insurer’s own telematics program will enable eligible drivers to receive a comprehensive report on their driving patterns and overall behavior behind the wheel.
“MAPFRE | Commerce Insurance is proud to offer telematics technology to our Massachusetts drivers. We believe this is a great tool for parents to monitor and help inexperienced drivers”
The new program will be offered to MAPFRE/Commerce insureds with less than three years driving experience and will be provided to eligible participants at no cost. Those who agree to participate in the program will receive a telematic device that will be installed in their car and will store and transmit data pertaining the operation of the vehicle. Data tracked will include information on the driver’s acceleration, braking, vehicle speed, and number of miles driven. Every driver in the program will have the ability to monitor their progress and performance through MAPFRE/Commerce’s DriveAdvisorSM confidential and personalized website.
Participants in the program, which is offered at no cost, will receive a device that, once installed in a person’s car, will store and transmit data on how the vehicle is operated, including such information as acceleration, braking, vehicle speed, and number of miles driven. The program will also provide feedback to its drivers on how to improve the driving to make it even safer. Participants also will have the ability to monitor their performance and progress right away through a confidential and personalized website. The DriveAdvisorSM Program also provides feedback on how to improve safe driving. Parents and guardians of new drivers also will be able to access the secure DriveAdvisorSM website at any time to review information pertaining to their child’s driving style including acceleration, braking, vehicle speed and number of miles driven, as well as trip maps that display where and when any high risk driving events occurred. A driver’s daily, weekly, monthly and overall “safety score” is also available on the secure website to help track progress and provide parents an understanding of safety levels.
For more experienced drivers, the DriveAdvisorSM Program will soon be available to insureds with a driving history that may need improvement. Like the current roll-out, participants will be subject to eligibility requirements.
