Zack Gould is the second recipient of the James O. Herrick Memorial Young Agent of the Year Award
Zack Gould of G&N Insurance has received the second annual James O. Herrick Memorial Young Agent of the Year Award. The annual award, presented during the MAIA’s State Annual Meeting, “…seeks to recognize agents who demonstrate leadership in their agency and community and support the mission of the committee by being active participants.”
At just 30 years old, Mr. Gould exemplifies these qualities in spades. Little over five years ago, Mr. Gould and his business partner, Matt Naimoli, decided to start their own agency in Southborough. At the time, they had one carrier appointment and no clients. Since then, the duo have transformed their business into a thriving agency that now boasts more than ten carrier appointments and more than 3,500 clients. The agency also just announced the opening of a second office in downtown Boston. Mr. Gould, in addition to growing his young business, has also become an active member of the MAIA and the Young Agents Committee. In accepting the award, Mr. Gould noted that the award represents the work of his business partner and agency team.
“I am honored to be the recipient of MAIA’s 2014 Young Agent of the Year and owe the recognition to Matt and our incredible team, as this is a shared accomplishment. To me, it has always been about waking up each day with a clear focus to deliver value to our clients while striving to be the most referred insurance agency in Massachusetts.”
In nominating his partner for this year’s award, Matt Naimoli explained why he thought Gould just be the Young Agent of the Year.
“At G&N, we strive for quality, speed, and service. With the support of our professional staff, we are leading the way as one of the fastest growing organic agencies in Massachusetts. In less than 5 years we’ve taken our agency from scratch – one appointment and no clients – to 12 employees, 10+ direct appointments, and 3500+ clients, much due to the networking, hiring, and managing responsibilities of Zack.”
About the James O. Herrick Memorial Young Agent of the Year Award
In 2013, the MAIA renamed the Young Agent of the Year award in honor of former MAIA Board Member, Jim Herrick. Mr. Herrick, who passed away unexpectedly, at the age of 46, in the fall of 2013, spent his entire career in the Massachusetts insurance industry. Right out of college he began his insurance career with Toole Insurance in the Berkshires, eventually moving on to work for many years at The Hanover Insurance Company and then finally at The Berkshire Insurance Group.
As a Board Member of the MAIA, he worked with the Young Agents as Board Liaison when the committee first began to revitalize itself. In naming the award in his honor, the MAIA said that Jim Herrick “…will be remembered by the young agents who worked with him as an ally, a cheerleader and a partner who was always available to lend an ear, field questions or listen to their ideas.”
For those interested in nominating someone they know for next year’s award, the MAIA begins accepting nominations for the award in September of each year. Any young agent member of the MAIA is eligible to be nominated. This year approximately, 40 nominations were received by the MAIA.
