The Strategic Insurance Agency Alliance was formed in New Hampshire in 1995
On October 21st, New Hamphsire’s Strategic Insurance Agency Alliance, celebrated its 20th Anniversary with a champagne gala at the Copley Marriott in Boston. Over 425 people attended the soiree including President & CEO Jim Masiello, EVP and COO Matt Masiello, senior officers of SIAA’s strategic partners, principals and staff of SIAA’s master agencies, as well as other business associates and friends of the alliance. In thanking all who attended the celebrations, SIAA CEO Jim Masiello said,
“When we began to build a national network of agencies two decades ago, we focused on a mission to support the growth and continuing success of the independent agency distribution system. Today we celebrate the success of our integrated model with multi‐level partnering, which continues to be a proven solution to help agencies grow both premium and profitability.”
How SIAA got its start….
In 1983, Jim Masiello formed the pre-cursor to SIAA, the Satellite Agency Network or SAN. As a “master agency”, SAN is comprised of independent agencies formed to overcome the problem that many small independent agencies face – how to grow and acquire more access to markets.
After the success of SAN, Masiello decided to replicate the success of SAN on a national level with the creation of the Strategic Insurance Agency Alliance in 1995. Over the last 20 years, SIAA has grown to include 48 master agencies with more than 5,500 member agencies signed and nearly $6 billion in revenue. The alliance currently estimates that 13 percent of all independent agencies in the United States are signed members of a SIAA master agency.
