McQueen Insurance has been an independent agency in Massachusetts for almost a century
Cambridge-based WTPhelan has announced the acquisition of the McQueen Insurance Agency and the Bateman Insurance Agency this month. The transactions, which were effective as of the first of this year, will see both of these Waltham-based agencies join the WT Phelan family.
“At WTPhelan, we are committed to providing exceptional service, and we are honored that Mr. Sneider has entrusted our agency to take care of his customers” said Robert Ramsey, the Agency’s Vice President. “We are delighted to welcome Tom’s customers to WTPhelan, and are confident that we will provide them with the same level of integrity and care they have received from the McQueen Agency over the past century.”
Founded in 1919, McQueen Insurance has been a locally-owned and independent insurance agency for 99 years. Located on Waltham’s Moody Street, it has been most recently run by Thomas A. Sneider.
After making the decision to retire from the Massachusetts insurance industry, Mr. Sneider, like so many other independent agents had to make a decision as to the future of his agency. He ultimately selected to sell to WTPhelan, determining it as the most viable local agency to sell to in order to carry on his agency’s legacy. In particular, Mr. Sneider felt that the Phelan Agency would provide a seamless transition for his valued customers.
According to the terms of the transaction, the McQueen agency’s location will close. The agency’s former customers will have their policies handled by WTPhelan’s Watertown office located at 145 Main Street. As for Mr. Sneider, he will serve as a consultant for WTPhelan going forward.
WTPhelan continues to solidify its presence in Middlesex County
A fourth generation family-owned and operated insurance agency founded in Cambridge in 1898, WTPhelan has been focused on creating a strong brand presence in the greater Middlesex County area. The agency’s January 1st acquisitions mark WTPhelan’s 14th (and 15th) agency acquisition within this specific geographic area. As of January 2018, the independent agency currently has six branch locations in the metro-Boston area: Arlington, Belmont, Cambridge, Watertown, Woburn and Lexington.
