DiVirgilio Insurance, Inc. Expands Its On-Time Payroll, Inc. Subsidiary With Acquisition of Click Payroll

August 2, 2021 by AC Editor

Building on the success of its acquisition of On-Time Payroll, Inc. in 2020, DiVirgilio Insurance of Lynn has announced its acquisition of Click Industries LLC dba Click Payroll. Based in Arlington, Click Payroll offers a vast array of services such as timekeeping, HR solutions and workers’ compensation, in addition to payroll and tax services. The new addition will be incorporated into the agency’s payroll subsidiary and will add to the company’s growing offerings to other independent agents.

In commenting on his agency’s latest acquisition Matt DiVirgilio, President of the DiVirgilio Insurance, Inc. & On-Time Payroll, Inc says that the acquisition will continue the growth trajectory in the payroll, timekeeping and HR solutions area. “We’re excited that the Click Payroll suite of product offerings will continue to strengthen our one-stop shopping for all of our commercial client needs including insurance, employee benefits, risk management, and payroll.”

This is the second payroll services company that DiVirgilio Insurance has acquired

Based in Lynn, DiVirgilio Insurance has been a family-owned and operated independent insurance agency for over 20 years.  This latest acquisition marks the second payroll services company the independent agency has acquired.

After DiVirgilio Insurance announced its first payroll company acquisition in 2020, Agency Checklists contacted Mr. DiVirgilio to query him about his decision to acquire a payroll company as opposed to another independent insurance agency. His response then was that firstly, he noticed a growing trend of payroll services entering the insurance field.  “One reason why we got involved in this business was that we saw ADP and Paychex getting more and more involved in the insurance business,” he explained at that time. “We wanted a more level playing field.”

Secondly, he believed that acquiring a payroll service provider could help him strengthen his existing client relationships. As he stated then, “We also realized that our clients weren’t receiving the same service on the payroll as they were with us on the insurance end,” he noted, adding that, “…we knew we could strengthen the relationship by being able to offer a full-blown Payroll Services platform.”

Lastly, he noted that that the combined services his growing payroll subsidiary provides can help fellow independent insurance agents. “We believe besides helping our own clients, the future growth opportunity is for us to be a Partner for other Independent Agents out there that want to provide Payroll Services to their business clients but don’t know where to start and want to work with a firm/Partner that is knowledgeable and speaks the “insurance language”.  We have a great foundation to really grow this service for ourselves and other Independent Agents.”
