First in Massachusetts but 16th office overall

March 1, 2025 — NEWBURYPORT — United Insurance, one of Maine’s largest independent insurance agencies, recently announced that its first-ever office in Massachusetts, located on Newburyport’s State Street, is open for business.

“This expansion into Massachusetts allows us to fulfill our mission to protect our clients, support our communities, and extend our organization to deliver trustworthy advice throughout New England,” United Insurance President and CEO Zack Frechette explained.

The office at 59 State St., with its coastal setting and mid-sized businesses, fits well with United Insurance’s expertise.

Partner/Senior Vice President Chris Miller oversees the new location. According to company officials, Chris has been an integral part of the organization, managing a diverse portfolio of commercial clients across New England since 2007.

“Our Portland, Maine office has insured the summer homes, camps, ski condos, and beach houses of hundreds of Massachusetts residents for many years, so we’re off to a great start,” Miller said.

Andrew LaMonica, a Personal Lines Account Executive with five years of experience, joins Miller in the Newburyport office in the heart of downtown.

Founded in 1868

Headquartered in Portland, Maine, United Insurance has locations from Fort Kent, Maine, on the Canadian border, 115 miles further North than Quebec City, to Newburyport, MA, just 36 miles North of Boston, with 14 other offices spread throughout Maine and New Hampshire. The agency’s nearly 200 professionals provide personal, business, and employee benefits insurance solutions and surety and risk management services to over 6,500 companies and 35,000 clients.

United Insurance traces its founding to a single agency opened by a Civil War veteran, Henry O. Perry, in Fort Fairfield, Maine, in 1868.
