Vermont Mutual Insurance Welcomes New Vice President of Underwriting

Terry Moore has joined the 187 year old mutual company as its vice president of underwriting

Agency Checklists, MA Insurance News, Mass. Insurance NewsVermont Mutual announced that it has elected Terry Moore as its new Vice President of Underwriting. Mr. Moore, who is a veteran insurance industry executive will be based out of the Group’s Montpelier headquarters.

In making the announcement, Mark McDonnell, Senior Vice President, stated “We’re very pleased to have Terry join the team at Vermont Mutual.  His broad industry experience makes him a great addition to our organization. Beyond the technical expertise Terry possesses, his entire career has been spent partnering with agents in the Independent Agent channel, which is an added benefit to Vermont Mutual, since it is the only channel through which we proudly distribute our products,” added McDonnell.

Prior to joining Vermont Mutual, Mr. Moore was most recently a AVP and Regional Manager of Safeco’s New York and New Jersey region. Before his time with Safeco, Mr. Moore also served as VP of Underwriting at OneBeacon’s reciprocal companies Adirondack and New Jersey Skylands. Mr. Moor also spent nearly 20 years at Fireman’s Fund during which he held a variety of leadership positions in Underwriting, Field Sales Territorial Leadership, Finance and Administration, Pricing, Human Resources and Operations. He first began his career in insurance as a Claims Examiner with Mutual Benefit Life.

In addition to Mr. Moore’s announcement, Vermont Mutual also announced the election of its new President Daniel Bridge and Board of Directors at its annual meeting last month.

187 years and counting…

Chartered in 1828, Vermont Mutual continues to remain a healthy and strong company. As one of the ten oldest mutual property/casualty insurers in the country, the company continues to insure its approximately 285,000 policyholders through the more than 500 independent insurance agencies it works with throughout New England. In December 2014, AM Best upgraded the 187 year old group of companies to A+ Superior.
