Agency Checklists, MA Insurance News, Mass. Insurance NewsMassachusetts agent, Jules O. Gaudreau,ChFC, CIC, has been elected as the new President of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (“NAIFA”). Mr. Gaudreau’s selection as President was announced during the 2015 NAIFA Career Conference and Annual Meeting, held in New Orleans.

Mr. Gaudreau, who will serve a one year term as president, previously served one-year terms as president-elect and secretary. In commenting on his election to Agency Checklists, he said,

“It will be a great privilege and responsibility to lead an association of over 42,000 professionals who help American families achieve financial security. I look forward to advocating on their behalf in Washington DC and throughout the country as I have done for over 25 years here in Massachusetts.”

A third generation independent agent, Mr. Gaudreau is the president of The Gaudreau Group, a multi-line insurance agency founded in Wilbraham in 1921. In 1988, Mr. Gaudreau purchased the agency from his grandfather, going on to grow and expand the agency’s offices and staff over the past 28 years. The agency currently insures over 5,000 businesses and families in 12 states with annual sales of over $80 million.

A Chartered Financial Consultant, a Certified Insurance Counselor, as well as a Licensed Insurance Advisor, Mr. Gaudreau’s primarily focus at the agency is in the corporate market with an emphasis on employee benefits, estate and business applications of life insurance, as well as commercial and casualty lines.

In addition to his election as national president, Mr. Gaudreau has served as president of NAIFA-Massachusetts as well as his local NAIFA association. In 2007, he was elected to the NAIFA-National Board of Trustees. He was elected secretary in 2013.

A former Director of the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents, Mr. Gaudreau is also a former President of the Independent Insurance Agents of Hampden County.

Formed in Boston in 1890, NAIFA celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2015

The NAIFA trade association is one of the oldest and largest in the insurance industry. Its members include insurance agents, financial advisors, multi-line agents, health insurance, employee benefits specialists, captive and independent advisors. It welcomes everyone in the insurance industry from those new to the business, to industry leaders and “everyone in between.”

Interestingly, the organization, now based in Virginia, got its start in Boston in 1890 as the National Association of Life Underwriters. In 2015, the association celebrated its 125th anniversary.
