Enrollments will begin in April 2016, with issue dates effective starting in June 2016
In the midst of celebrating its anniversary this year, Canton-based Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company has launched a new group accident insurance plan. This marks the first group accident plan launched by the 125-year old life insurer. “Our producers noted that an increasing number of policyholders have begun requesting a range of accident coverage options,” said Charlie Mabry, Vice President of Workplace Solutions at Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company. “The new product is fully customizable and is a great supplement to high deductible health insurance plans that continue to gain popularity.”
The new group accident plan offers a high level of customization
As the company’s first ever group accident plan, Group Accident Coverage offers employers a greater level of flexibility in customizing voluntary benefits. It also offers employees equal opportunity to the same accident plan and rates regardless of the state they are located in.
“There’s a significant interest right now in more flexible insurance options, mostly due to the many variations in primary health insurance plans,” said Mary Tillson, Vice President of Claims Services and Product Support at Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company. “At Boston Mutual, we’re always looking for ways to provide solutions for individuals to help minimize their out of pocket expenses, such as our new adaptable Group Accident Coverage plan.”
Other highlights from the new product includes eight modules, each one with maximum flexibility in order to provide a variety of personalized options based on employer needs. Moreover, each benefit category can be dialed up or down at a case level in order providing for a maximum level of customization. This includes benefits such as: hospital, emergency care, emergency room, diagnostic imaging, continuing care, specific loss, major injury, fractures, and dislocations. The product is available in three different levels of shelf plans: Silver, Gold, and Platinum or can be further tailored to the needs of a specific employer.
The Group Accident Coverage product is currently available in 41 states. Boston Mutual plans on beginning the enrollments this month (April 2016) with issue dates effective starting in June 2016.
