The new tool officially launched on July 24, 2017

Progressive has made a move in the homeowner’s insurance marketplace. This month, the Ohio-based carrier has debuted its new on-line quoting tool for homeowner’s insurance: HomeQuote Explorer. According to the carrier, this new tool breaks the mold of other P&C carriers’ homeowner online quoting tools by virtue of its ability to compare homeowners insurance quotes from multiple carriers for consumers using the tool.

Founded in 1937, in Mayfield, Ohio, Progressive is now one of the largest direct writers of auto insurance in the country, while currently the eighth largest private passenger auto insurance carrier in the Commonwealth. It is also within the Top 20 for homeowner’s insurance nationally.

HomeQuote Explorer is modeled on the insurer’s well-known auto insurance tool

Similar to what the company did with its auto insurance tool 21 years ago, Progressive’s new homeowners insurance quoting tool aims to make comparison shopping in this line just as simple promising quotes for consumers in 15 minutes or less.

This might sound familiar, because it’s the formula we used to put the power of comparison shopping in the hands of auto insurance customers in 1996,” said Progressive CEO, Tricia Griffith. “We think HomeQuote Explorer will compel a lot of homeowners to take a few minutes to make sure they’re getting the right coverage at the right rate.”

Because each home is so unique, getting a home quote used to take a long time,” adds Customer Acquisition Leader, Dan Witalec. “With Progressive’s HomeQuote Explorer, most people can get multiple, complete and accurate, quotes in 15 minutes or less.”

It does this by pulling in publicly available information on a property automatically to save the homeowner time, and has an easy-to-use series of prompts to help the user enter other required information.”

For example,” adds Witalec, “many people don’t know whether they have a gable, mansard, hip or gambrel roof. But HomeQuote Explorer uses photos of roof types to help homeowners quickly identify what they have. We wanted to make this easy.”

This platform will keep getting smarter, as we learn more and continue to add new features to make it even easier to get home insurance quotes online,” Witalec adds.

Progressive writes its homowners through American Strategic Insurance, a company it acquired in 2015.

The new tool was built by New York-based Bolt Solutions, according to the company,

The BOLT Platform is a Software as a Service (SaaS) offering designed to connect carriers and their agents directly to consumers and deliver the ideal and optimized experience customers expect today. The BOLT Platform is compatible with an insurer’s existing infrastructure, providing a single interface and a seamless process from consumer to back office systems, as well as a rich data set for reporting, analytics, and market and consumer intelligence.
