Boston has become something of an epicenter for new ideas for the Insurance industry. Be those ideas from startups, carriers, or even agencies, there is a remarkable amount of creativity being applied to insurance. Companies new and old are rethinking the way the business works across the whole value chain. I can personally attest to the power our community has to raise the compete level of companies new and old through the free sharing of ideas (the notion of which is somewhat revolutionary in and of itself in the insurance business).
Creating a forum for collaboration and the free exchange of ideas through which our our extended community can make connections with one another, is exactly why my Co-Founder Allan Egbert, in partnership with F-Prime’s Jay Farber created Insurtech Boston almost two years ago.
It was a chance to bring together in one place many of the people who were spending their days quietly shaping the future of the insurance business. A central tenant was to make the community the star of the show at the event, and while yes, we would have some agenda for the evening, the larger goal was to help many of the people who had supported us in our individual journeys connect with one another.
Fast forward to this week when we’ll gather again for the fourth such event, and while the event has grown in size by a multiple we hadn’t anticipated originally, the spirit remains the same. Insurtech Boston is all about helping our community and industry improve through the free sharing of ideas with one another.
On Thursday night at District Hall in the Seaport we have some great content lined up representing perspectives from all across the industry. As has become customary at our event we’ll hear the stories of a few local startups who have been making a positive impact for carriers and agents alike. We’ve worked hard to keep networking a central component of the evening and using at this event we’ll be using a smartphone app to help participants see who else is in attendance and setup brief meetings with them. We’ve also reserved the whole building Thursday giving people a little more chance to spread out.
So come out and meet someone new or learn about something new going on. If insurance is your thing, there’s really no better way to spend a Thursday night.
