MAIA Bets On Benefits Of Big Data For Its Member Agents

The Association is an initial investor and partner in IntellAgents LLC

The future of independent agents will hinge on their ability to harness big data. That is the reasoning behind the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents’ decision to both become an initial investor in and a partner with IntellAgents, LLC.

“We are excited to partner with our colleagues on this forward-thinking initiative to benefit our members,” says MAIA President and CEO Nick Fyntrilakis. “IntellAgents will give users a strategic edge in today’s competitive environment. Independent agents have long been seeking this kind of real-world, localized data to help determine where they stand in their respective markets. They’re wondering, Are my employee salaries and benefits competitive?  Am I performing on par with best-in-class agencies? With IntellAgents, they will finally find answers.”

Founded by the Ohio Insurance Agents Association, IntellAgents is an analytics-driven organization specializing in “…geographically localized, actionable insights for independent insurance agents.” As an investor and partner, the MAIA will help IntellAgents access various data points from across its members in order to compile and provide members with meaningful benchmark studies and reports based on local data.

“We are building a warehouse of independent agent data to help agents grow and compete in the ever-changing insurance marketplace,” explains IntellAgents CEO Carey Wallace. “The benchmarks and insights we will be able to provide are far more relevant to agents than the national benchmarks that are available today.”

The first benchmarking study is already underway …

The MAIA already has begun working with IntellAgents on a new Salary and Benefits survey to be released to members later this year. Aside from Massachusetts, six other state independent associations, in addition to Massachusetts and Ohio, have joined the partnership. They are Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Maryland/Delaware, and North Carolina.

For those Massachusetts insurance agents looking for further information about MAIA’s partnership with IntellAgents, they can contact MAIA President and CEO Nick Fyntrilakis at nfyntrilakis@massagent.com or 508-634-7352.
