Insurance Agents ratings are now live on the insurance marketplace
Following up on its announcement earlier this year to launch Agent Reviews in the First Quarter of 2019, Clearsurance has announced that Agent Reviews on are now live on the insurance marketplace’s website.
“Ratings and reviews of agents is a critical link to providing a holistic offering to empower insurance consumers who rely upon insurance to protect their most valuable assets,” said Michael Crowe, Clearsurance CEO and co-founder earlier this year. “We’re excited to bring transparency to the agent and agency space and allow consumers a way to find a highly rated agent in their area if they prefer to buy through an agent.”
With the addition of agent profiles to its platform, Clearsurance will now offer the ability for consumers to review companies involved in all three insurance buying methods – via agents, carriers, and third party sellers. Here is a screenshot of how the agent review pages look:
“The introduction of agents on Clearsurance will not only enhance our visitors’ experience, but also provide more visibility for agents and create a broader distribution opportunity for carriers with agent networks,” said Chief Growth Officer & GM, Tim Hey.
Over 500 insurance agents are already listed on the platform
Ultimately, the decision to include agent reviews was an easy one for the Massachusetts based company – it simply listened to its customers leaving reviews on the platform. The start-up said that since its inception in 2016, consumers have been submitting reviews of agents. In fact, according to internal data, in 2018, approximately 37 percent of insurance consumers who wrote a review on the Clearsurance platform indicated that they had used an agent in order to either source or buy their insurance.
As a result, Clearsurance already has approximately 550 agent profiles that are already live on its platform. Initially, the company announced that the select agent reviews affiliated with both Security First and Horace Mann will be the first to roll out on the platform. Both insurers are subscribers to Clearsurance.
“Now consumers can view the insurance companies that agents represent alongside their ratings to make more informed purchasing decisions,” said Clearsurance Founder & CEO, Michael Crowe adding that with approximately 40 percent of consumers buying their insurance through an insurance agent, the addition of agent reviews completes the entire picture for consumers on the Clearsurance platform.
How insurance agents can check or claim their profile page

Aiming to be the “trusted, unbiased go-to domain for consumers” about all things insurance
In 2017, Agency Checklists interviewed Clearsurance’s Founder Michael Crowe about the idea behind his start-up. Here is what he said:
After I sold my last business in 2010 to Brown & Brown Insurance, I stayed on for a few years. However, I wanted to start another entrepreneurial venture and had been thinking about the white space that existed for consumers in the insurance industry relative to having a good sense of an insurance company’s reputation. I noticed there was no crowd-sourced platform for reviews and ratings (the voice of the customer) as exists for most other industries today.
To read that interview, please refer to Agency Checklists 2017 interview entitled, “Clearsurance – Using Technology To Bring Transparency To Insurance.” The company, which is based in the Greater Boston, had just about 10,000 consumer reviews when Agency Checklists first interviewed it. Since then, it now has more than 125,000 reviews and counting with more than 700 insurance company profiles on its platform.
