The annual award is presented during the MAIA’s Big Event
Monica Adwani, of G&N Insurance, is the recipient of the 2019 James O. Herrick Memorial Young Agent of the Year Award. The annual award, presented during the MAIA’s State Annual Meeting, “…seeks to recognize agents who demonstrate leadership in their agency and community and support the mission of the committee by being active participants.”
“The Young Agents Committee is pleased to present the James O. Herrick Jr Memorial Young Agent of the Year Award to an agent who is truly hardworking, energetic, and engaged in the community,” said Jon Jensen in remarks he made during the awards presentation. “However, what sets this year’s nominee apart is unrelenting professionalism, positivity and the ability to educate others about insurance and risk management. It’s my pleasure to recognize the 2019 James O. Herrick Jr Memorial Young Agent Award to Monica Adwani from G&N Insurance.
Originally from Puerto Rico, Ms. Adwani moved to Massachusetts over a decade ago with one dream in mind as she noted in her biography on the G&N website: Success. As the biography continued to note, ” In many ways, she has achieved her dream – she’s a single mother of a beautiful girl, she has made wonderful friends, she found a career that she’s passionate about, and after a couple of searches she finally found a working-family that is amazing. Her dedication, honesty, and determination helps her succeed in everything she puts her mind into. Monica always has a “can-do” attitude and is never afraid of facing new challenges.”
Prior to joining G&N Insurance, where she is currently a Sales Manager for the agency, she began her career in insurance with Liberty Mutual. Ms. Adwani studied at both the InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico – Ponce Campus where she obtained an Associate of Arts & Sciences in Information Resources Management, and at Fisher College where she received a Bachelor of Applied Sciences (B.A. Sc.) Business Administration and Management.

6 Years ago I took a leap of faith and joined the independent insurance channel. About the James O. Herrick Memorial Young Agent of the Year Award
In 2013, the MAIA renamed the Young Agent of the Year award in honor of former MAIA Board Member, Jim Herrick. A well known and well-regarded member of the Massachusetts insurance industry, Mr. Herrick passed away unexpectedly at the age of 46 during the Fall of 2013.
Right out of college, Mr. Herrick began his insurance career with Toole Insurance in the Berkshires. He eventually moved on to The Hanover Insurance Company where he spent many years before finally joining The Berkshire Insurance Group.
