Mary Machut has been elected as the new member of the Board of Directors at Union Mutual of Vermont. The election took place on February 26, 2014 during the company’s annual meeting. Union’s Board Chair John Fitzhugh and President Michael Nobles issued a joint statement praising Ms. Machut’s election to the board and the her “…industry and reinsurance knowledge will contribute significantly to Board deliberations.”
Ms. Machut retired from General Reinsurance in 2013, having spent the last 20 years as a treaty account executive for national, regional and mutual companies throughout New England, New York and Maryland. Overall, her 40-year career in the New England insurance industry also includes time at both Amica and The Hartford in addition to General Reinsurance.
Ms. Marchut is a graduate of Marymount College where she received her BA in Pyschology. She obtained her CPCU designation in 1994. She is a lifelong resident of Connecticut where she and her husband continue to reside and a frequent visitor to Vermont.
