Starkweather and Shepley first opened shop in Rhode Island in 1879
The Rhode Island insurance brokerage firm of Starkweather and Shepley has acquired The Dennis Rodrigues Agency of Rehoboth.
Headquartered in East Providence, Starkweather & Shepley presently has a satellite office in Westerly, Rhode Island as well as two locations in Connecticut and five locations in Massachusetts. The five Massachusetts locations that operate under agency trade names are: Crosbie-Macdonald Agency of Westwood, Insurance Professionals of New England of Sturbridge, and Martha’s Vineyard Insurance of Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven, and Edgartown.
In this acquisition, Starkweather announced that the staff of the Rodrigues Agency will transition over to Starkweather’s newly renovated and expanded headquarters in East Providence, Rhode Island.
Mr. Rodrigues, who founded the agency that bears his name over 25 years ago, will retire upon completion of the transaction.
