Eastern Insurance Acquires Independent Insurance Agency in Quincy

February 2, 2015 by AC Editor

Eastern Insurance is the 48th largest agency in the United States

Natick-based Eastern Insurance Group, LLC announced earlier today that it has acquired the James J. Sullivan Insurance Agency.  Founded in 1956 by Jim Sullivan, the James J. Sullivan Insurance Agency has been a highly respected independent insurance agency in Quincy for over 50 years.

“We are excited to welcome James J. Sullivan and its customers to Eastern Insurance,” said Aldrich. “The Sullivan agency is well-known for its superior customer service and products, making it a perfect fit for our growing organization.”

According to the terms of the deal, the agency, which was run by principals Sullivan and Sherry Wood, will be merged into the Eastern Insurance brand allowing Sullivan’s clients a broader range of insurance products and services. In return, the acquisition of the Sullivan Agency will increase Eastern Insurance’s customer base south of Boston and its overall position throughout southeastern Massachusetts. The company already has 10 locations in this area, including a location in Quincy.

“Eastern has a strong Quincy presence and Sullivan’s customer base is a natural extension of the markets that we now serve, so this was an attractive opportunity to partner with a successful agency with an excellent reputation,” said Aldrich.

Following the merger, Mr. Sullivan will remain on with Eastern Insurance in a sales role with the agency. He also will continue to maintain relationships with his former agency’s largest clients.

“We are proud of what we have built in providing the best insurance protection for the people and businesses of Quincy and nearby communities,” said Sullivan, President of James J. Sullivan.  “Eastern Insurance will serve our clients and employees extremely well.”
