Established in Quincy in 1988, Arbella celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2013
Quincy-based Arbella announced the promotions of four members of its executive team. The four members, Gayle O’Connell, Eileen Currie, Jim Hyatt, and Beverly Tangvik were cited for their work in helping develop and expand the Arbella brand throughout New England. All four report directly to John F. Donohue, chairman, president and CEO of the Arbella Insurance Group.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have such talented leadership at Arbella, and we’re thrilled to recognize and promote the people who have helped make Arbella such a successful business, and a supportive and fun workplace,” said Donohue. “Each one of these remarkable individuals is committed to furthering Arbella’s mission of protecting our local communities and helping our neighbors in need, and we are confident that they will continue to propel Arbella forward as a leading insurer in New England.”
The following are the announcements regarding each of the four Executive Team members:
Promoted to executive vice president and Chief Marketing Officer, Gayle O’Connell will now oversee the sales and marketing functions in addition to her current responsibilities leading human resources and corporate communications. Gayle has been instrumental in creating Arbella’s unique brand, and her efforts to build a strong employee culture have led Arbella to become a Boston Business Journal “Best Place to Work” company for the past six years.
Eileen Currie has been promoted to senior vice president of Commercial Lines. Eileen will continue to manage all Commercial Lines activities at Arbella. In her six years as the head of Commercial Lines, Eileen has achieved strong profits in Arbella’s core lines of business. She has led significant growth and expansion of Arbella’s Commercial Lines footprint in Connecticut and New Hampshire, positioning Arbella as a major player across southern New England.
In recognition of his strong leadership of Personal Lines and his role in driving the profitability of Arbella’s largest line of business, Jim Hyatt has been promoted to senior vice president of Personal Lines. Jim successfully navigated the many challenges associated with Massachusetts’ auto deregulation, and effectively managed Arbella’s homeowner’s line of business following the natural disasters of 2011. Jim will continue to oversee all Personal Lines activities at Arbella.
Beverly Tangvik has been promoted to president of the Arbella Insurance Charitable Foundation. For the past 10 years, Beverly has developed the vision of Arbella’s Charitable Foundation, and has significantly increased Arbella’s employee volunteerism and engagement. Beverly is committed to growing charitable programs in partnership with Arbella’s independent agents, and has successfully positioned Arbella’s Foundation as a respected leader in the philanthropic community in New England.
