Commissioner Judson Confirms 2016 CAR Advisory Committee Appointments

Requests for Appointment were due in December of 2015

The Commissioner of Insurance, in consultation with Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers, has approved the 2016 appointments to the CAR Advisory Committee appointments. There are currently ten CAR Advisory Committees in total.

As announced during the appointment application process, this year two new advisory committees have been established at CAR. These committees replace the former Compliance Audit Committee and the Operations Committee. The following is a summary of each of the new committees taken from the CAR website:

Compliance and Operations Committee

The Compliance and Operations Committee is responsible for the operational functions related to statistical and residual market reporting, development of procedural and technical guidelines relating to Hybrid Audit Plan (HAP) and Commercial Automobile audits and oversight of all data quality assurance functions. The Committee also ensures that the Statistical Plans, the Manual of Administrative Procedures, the Assigned Risk Company and Assigned Risk Producer Procedures Manuals, and the Private Passenger and Commercial Claims Performance Standards are compliant with statutes, regulations, and the CAR Rules of Operation.

Financial Audit Committee

The Financial Audit Committee is responsible for the oversight of the independent review of CAR’s financial statements. The Committee is responsible for the engagement of an independent accounting firm in accordance with CAR’s contracting policy, annually defining the scope of the engagement and for considering the auditor’s findings.
