SIAA Reaches $6 Billion of In-force Written Premium

March 22, 2016 by AC Editor

SIAA, the nation’s largest agency alliance, celebrated its 20th year in 2015

Agency Checklists, MA Insurance News, Mass. Insurance NewsThe year 2015 turned out to be a banner year for the members of the Strategic Insurance Agency Alliance, the nation’s largest insurance agency alliance. After celebrating its 20th year in 2015, the alliance announced this month that its members reached a combined total of $6 billion of in-force written premiums for the past year. In total, SIAA’s Strategic Partner Companies (carriers) generated approximately $570.3 million in new business.

2015 also marked another year of growth for the agency alliance

In addition to posting these impressive numbers, the alliance also announced that the companies over 400 new member agencies last year. This brings the grand total of alliance members now to more than 5,700 member agencies and SIAA Master Agencies to 48. SIAA estimates that 13 percent of all independent insurance agencies in the U.S. are or have been signed members of SIAA.

The numbers clearly show the success of our unique integrated model, which is dedicated to agency growth and profitability,” says Jim Masiello, chairman and chief executive officer of SIAA.  “But numbers only tell part of the story. Behind the scenes, we have worked with our Master Agencies to provide Member Agencies with innovative and proven educational, marketing and business development resources.”

SIAA began in New England in 1983

The SIAA agency alliance concept began with the first Master Agency, known as the SAN Group (Satellite Agency Network Group) in New Hampshire. According to company history, Jim Masiello, owner of the Masiello Agency in Keene, N.H. created the idea of a “Master Agency” in order to overcome the roadblocks his agency was encountering because of its size. By 1995, the SAN Group had reached 38 members with $68 million in premium

Replicating the success of that first Master Agency, in 1995, SIAA was formed to launch this model on a national scale. The alliance now offers a bevy of support and marketing initiatives for its members including its own consumer-facing web portal Insurancedeals4u.com.
